    Title: Wild animals’ immune systems decline with age, sheep study finds

    Article summary:

    Wild Soay sheep on the remote St Kilda Archipelago, have been shown that their immune systems have started to decline from plastic worms being eaten by these wild animals. The plastic worms that these wild animals are eating will not get digested and they will stay in their digestive systems and not get broken down. These worms stay in their system and the worms break down their digestive systems and it ends up killing them. Blood samples were taken from these sheep to find out why there was a decline of these sheep and they found out about the deterioration of there immune systems. These wild Soay sheep have lived on this remote island for thousands of years and if their immune systems keep getting hurt then they are going to keep decreasing in population.

    Personal Reaction:

    My reaction to this is that these wild animals are not safe here on this remote island. This is because if they stay here then they will keep eating this plastic then they will eventually all die and most of the sheeps are eating this and not digesting it. Also, the plastic worms are probably washing up on this archipelago from fishers and I think that they could stop this by not allowing fishers to fish around this remote island or use live bait so there are not any plastic worms that are not being eaten and instead being eaten by these sheep and starting to kill them with there old age.

    Article Summary:

    The nuclear shape can change and look completely different in the human body when someone has a disease such as cancer. The nuclear shape being changed can affect the DNA of the person with the disease. Another study that the scientist found was the surprising amount of micronuclei and the nuclear blebs in the primary cells after the loss of an enzyme called MOF. This enzyme helps by making the accessibility of genetic material easier by modifying proteins. Alos without this enzyme it will not enable the gene activity and allow the proteins in their body to work properly. Therefore, without the MOF enzyme, it causes a big loss of nuclear shape in the body. If the DNA is lacking MOF then the nuclear shape will collapse and cause some cells chromosomes to shred and destroy them.

    Personal Reaction: My reaction to this is that the nuclear shape in a human body is really important because with the nuclear shape collapsing then it will shred some of the cell’s chromosomes. It is sad that this can be caused by cancer and aging because people don’t decide when this happens to them and when they try and build back together, it can sometimes not get built back right and some are missing parts while some have extra. This could affect the number of cell chromosomes you have for having a kid.

    Article Summary: It has been shown by many studies that the attention capacity of kids whose mothers ate seafood in the first trimester of pregnancy is higher than mothers who ate this in the later months of pregnancy or children at 5 years of age. Many mothers were tested by food questionaries when they were pregnant that had asked them how often they had tried 100 different kinds of foods and including different kinds of seafood. The researchers would use this to determine whether or not lean and fatty seafood would make a difference on the child’s attention capacity. Brain development takes place mainly during pregnancy and essential nutrients are a really important role such as fatty acids. This is why the fatty fish and rich lean fish is essential to eat during the start of pregnancy. These Nutrients that the fish contains, is a big role in the foetal brain structure and function which leads to a large impact on later neuropsychological development. Women whose child scored well on the attention test ate more fatty fish and lean fish. But women who ate more canned tuna and shellfish did score lower.

    Personal Reaction: My reaction to this is that I think mothers who are thinking about or are having a kid should follow this and try this because it has been proven to be test and women that have had children that it is better for your child to et more lean and fatty fish. It is good for your child and helps with a lot of aspects that are important to have such as full brain development and brain structure. This would mostly affect your child’s attention test and without this, they would have ADHD and not have the best listening.

    Fish use their colorful skin patterns to signal to other fish. The fish will also use their colors to attract other fish to them. Lots of fish have different types of coloration on their scales and bodies and a specific type of tropical fish called the Girardinus Metallicus can be very aggressive when competing for mates. These fish have a yellow color to them and the males who have a brighter yellow color to them tend to be more aggressive when competing. Researchers demonstrated an experiment on these fish and put a few ingredients in the water including clove oil and this made the yellow color of these fish not be as bright but it did increase there saturation. These results in the fish are important because their color change might make these fish not as aggressive and increases there saturation.

    Personal Reaction:

    My reaction to this is that these fish can be really aggressive but if they do this test on more of these fish, then it would end up being better than them and not be as aggressive in finding their mates and signaling to them. I think it is pretty cool because this works because the organelles in the fish disperse to cause their color to appear darker. Also, it increases there saturation which is good for them. It allows them to absorb more in their bodies. I also think that the natural colors of a fish are really cool looking on their scales so the appearance of the fish would change. It wouldn’t look as pretty as before maybe.

    It has been shown that people eating with friends and family eat more than people eating alone or at a solo dinner. Eating with others that you know has a more powerful effect on how much food you consume. When eating with your friends or family you might overeat and eat more than you should but when you eat alone, you could not eat enough which is not good for you. Providing food can result in more praise from people you know and can make your relationship closer. Between strangers, it was recorded that people would eat a smaller amount of food with each other because they would want to get to know each other more and talk more. It is also shown that the amount of food varies between people and the impression they want to show someone. Like a woman eating with a man might eat less because they do not want to get judged about how much they eat and get to know each other better.

    Personal Reaction:

    My reaction to this is that I feel like I eat more food with friends as well. But also I could see both sides because I could see people going on a date or getting to know each other, not eating as much food because they want to talk more instead of each. I feel like I eat more with my friends and family because I know them well and I want to spend more time with them. When people spend more time together, you can eat more because you might be there talking to them for a while. I feel like when you eat by yourself, you are more lonely and are not talking to anyone so you eat a smaller amount of food because you are not with anyone or even a stranger.
